Airplanes

At first pilots flew in wood biplanes that could barely fly up to 100 miles per hour. Engineers began to improve how airplanes were built because most people thought the planes were useless, By the end of the war aircrafts became more sophisticated and useful.  Since airplanes were new technology when the war broke out they were gradually improved over the course of the war and were very useful to both sides in the fighting.

Airplanes had many uses during World War I.  They were good for escaping and dropping weapons. They were also good for traveling fast which is important because troops needed to be moved between places quickly and supplies needed to be delivered. Aircraft was a big contribution to the war because it made fighting easier. People could easily travel and drop weapons such as bombs. Due to advancements of aircrafts there are hundreds of different airplanes used for different reasons today.
