Militarism is a designated rise in military distribution and increases in military and naval forces. Militarism had lots of influence of the military men on the policies of the civilian government because it gave more options to use force as an answer to problems.  This was one of the main causes of World War 1.

Militarism lead up to World War 1. Many nations of Europe was able to create more powerful weapons and in a greater amount and they were spending more to improve their forces.  The more powerful armies caused a rise in nationalism and growing competition.  The growing competition between nations led to increased tensions between the nations as well.  The rise of the armies helped fuel European countries and drive them to protect national interests.
